Insert a knife blade between the two plates and gently
lift the top plate away from the bottom plate. If the
correct angle has been used in sawing out the die, the
die will reach a point where it wants to "hang-up" on
the punch and not allow passage of the die. Use this
resistance to help with the final alignment of the die
to the punch. You may have to make the holes for the
10-32 screws a bit larger to allow this. When the punch
and die are in perfect alignment, finish tightening
all of the screws and add the two additional 10-32 screws
as jam nuts.
After final alignment, and all bolts and screws are
tight, grind off the protruding threads (and heads if
necessary) of the 4-40 screws on both sides of the plates.
