USE A 4-0 SAW BLADE AND SET THE BENCH PIN AT 10.5 DEGREES.

With RED SIDE UP, saw out the interior pattern shape completely. Try to make the turn as you enter the pattern saw-line as sharp as possible. "Marching in place" as you make the turn will help with this.

YOU MUST ALWAYS CONTINUE IN THE SAME DIRECTION, YOU CANNOT START CUTTING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION, OR THE DIE WILL NOT WORK!

You now have a loose piece with two (or more) holes in it. This will be the punch for the interior cut, and will be fastened with the screws to the bottom plate. If the sawing has been done correctly, the punch is just slightly too big to drop through the opening.

Don't panic! This is correct.

Set the top plate to one side and temporarily screw the punch to the bottom plate. Using the paper template as a guide, scribe the outline of the exterior die onto the bottom plate.
