 his
section of the website is to provide you with tips and techniques
that go beyond Susan Kingsley's book:
Hydraulic Die Forming For Jewelers And Metalsmiths. Some of
the areas to be covered (as this is to be an ongoing project) are
mentioned in the book, but as new information is gained, or a better
way to describe the process is discovered, it will appear here.
All of the information given here will presume that you are already
familiar with the book. It is not intended to be a basic primer,
but instead a continuation of information.
Many of the techniques to be shown here have been given to
us by users such as yourself and this is how we hope to expand
the knowledge base of how to use the press.
Free-form shaping of metal in the press is one of the newest
areas to be worked in and truly, one of the most exciting.
Please be aware that the press,
just like anything else in shaping metal can be dangerous!
Always secure your tooling, by bolting it in place. Never
trust a tool to remain in place without bolting. If using
Acrylic shapes for forming, always support them fully, and
be aware that they can shatter. Always wear a face shield.
