I was watching an indicator on the business end of a 4" dia boring bar when my partner made that little faux pas on a very large 5-axis mill. The program was supposed to jog .1" down; then retract the bar so we could center on the next hole. Very clean shear on the boring bar. The mill wrights who had to reset the machine were displeased. Set the job back two shifts - at $400/hr.
