The bad news is that the blanking die sits in a tub of pickle, warped , bowed and misaligned. The bronze positive
forming module is in there too, bent, in two pieces, in bad shape from having been unceremoniously, rudely plucked from, brutally unsoldered from, the die.
The die warped from heat, giving the form no flat surface to solder to. The only thing that saved it was that the form DIDN'T solder well, just tacked in a few places, allowing me to pry it off in a series of solder-melting
stages.
So, tomorrow is a day of repair, reconstitution, resoldering, not to mention getting medieval on it's arse with a torch and a pair of pliers to try and flatten it out. We'll see how good I am then; really good is being able to fix what you screw up.
Next time, we won't be soldering big , elaborate forms to the blanking die, we will be screwing them down like we did on the giant leaf.
