As we all know, this can lead to part jamming, which can cause... oh, I can't bring myself to say it , not i the same area as 'giant leaf die". But the leaf parts did start to jam. My heart did sink a little , but strangely I was calm and optomistic . Maybe it was because I wasn't all that surprised, maybe it was because I knew that not
making leaves is not an option; whatever, I went about disassembling the forming module from the blanking die.
Then - this phase was after phases of adjusting the alignment by peening the bottom of the hinge stopped preventing jams- I did the only thing you can in this situation (short of making a new die), I got out the B.F.H.. For a good half hour I pounded (and stretched my wrists) and pounded (and stretched) that die. Mostly on the edge of the inside/male punch part of the die, to stretch it outwards a bit and tighten up the clearance , and some strategic pummelling of the outer portion to tighten things in a directionally selective way. Only in the last year have I become pleased with my ability to 'rearrange' die areas seletively. It gets tricky : ya hit it one place to do one thing and it does something else to another area.
Anyway, I got the thing cutting again.
Gotta go......
