Phil, will you rent out "press time"??!!!!!!  Has anyone tried to emboss sheet metal by running a "sandwich" of a die such as this, the sheet metal, then a urethane embossing pad through a rolling mill in the manner of "roller printing"? I thought of using the urethane pad (instead of the usual paper towels, etc.) in order to use a deeper etch than usually used for roller printing.   ...Jack

A rolling mill used with a urethane pad just isn't going to deliver anywhere near the kind of pressure that a big press will. I'd guess that won't work very well; but since it would ony engage a small area and focus it's pressure , I could be wrong.

I need to try a similar approach for some  embossed plates.
A solid form  -etched, edm'ed, or laser etched (hey N.G.!)-    then thin sheet, then a super hard urethane pad, in the 50 tonner. Might avoid having to have matching plates made
(I hope).
