Hey ,
Yeah I guess steel rule dies are pretty common.(s.r.d.'s from now on) I went to a gasket company looking for forming rubber and they had heaps of s.r.d.'s for cutting custom gaskets. Didn't get to see 'em in use. They're used in the printing industry a lot too,I hear. A press of the old search button turned up lots of companies who make them.
I have a nice 2 piece 5" long turtle as my new copper garden project. I think I'm going to have the main body/shell mold set cast in bronze. I'm a bit nervous because I have not tried this yet, but I'm sure it will work best. It will be easier to make the original male half  as I will make that out of sculpey, perhaps. Any of you folks know if that is a suitable material to make an RTV mold off of??????  I don't know why not.
This die set will have to dome the body AND press shell segment lines into it. Those lines will have to be very shallow and should not extend to the edge of the piece, as I'm worried about wrinkling. If it doesn't work I can plug up the lines and make the set form a smooth shell. Of course I could make a second die set for pressing the lines into an annealed, formed shell, but that may be more than
"they" want to pay me for.
For now, Ill pretend that people are out there listening but I wouldn't blame Lee if he shitcanned the whole project for lack of participation. So how about    getting your fingers off their butts? This is like, totally the boringest chat room I've ever been to!!!!!!!!!!
