Material for machined die?

I should have included this in my last question about getting a machined die made. Seeing how I will be using this die for annealed copper, would aluminum be ok for the die? Would it last or would it be better in the long run to be a harder steel.

Thanks in advance for the ability to tap this vast resource of knowledge.
