using stamps in the press
Darren de Lacy
At Lee's Adelaide workshop, he briefly touched on how the press may be (very gently) used to hallmark work by bolting a hallmark stamp into the tooling holder on the upper platen. Some of my production work features simple geometric designs (8x8mm) stamped into the metal surface, forming depressions suitable for enameling, oxidising etc. I make the stamps myself, carving designs into the end of a 8mm square section of tool steel, and up till now, imprinting into the metal with a number of hammer blows. With the imminent arrival of my press, (woo hoo!) I'm wondering if anyone else has had any experience in using the press in this way. Any advice and tips would be appreciated!
Thanks guys,
DazzaP.S. How has the rest of Australia been treating you, Lee? I hope they're being gentle with my press!
