When we start using terms from other areas, there is the chance of confusion. "Flat as a pancake" would certainly push the press into new territory. I am aware of a couple of unusual applications for the press, ie:
flattening survival bisquits before baking (they are mixed very dry for maximum longevity, and are very difficult to smooth out).
cracking recalcitrant walnuts.
Does anybody have any others?
