>Nope, not in this case. I used my Bonny Doon delrin deadblow hammer, the smaller size, which I purchased from Tevel at Allcraft.

For those of you that may not be "in the know", I also make hammers. Since I am primarily known for making presses, most people would not know about them, and so I market them only through Allcraft. His product line of hammers and stakes is well known, and getting better and bigger all of the time.
The hammers that I make are made of Delrin, and are loaded with steel shot. They are flat on one face with a cross-peen on the other. This does two things:

Makes them have some heft. The 1-1/8" diameter version weighs 8oz, almost twice the weight of the same thing made of solid delrin.

The steel shot creates a "dead-blow" action so that the hammer doesn't bounce upon impact. All of the energy goes into the metal, not into rebound.

I also make a 1-3/4" diameter version that has removable faces on the end opposite the cross-peen. This one weighs 16oz.
