There are a number of inexpensive two part epoxy things there, including some stuff called PC 11 and other genericly named  things that just are called epoxy putty---different colors, different applications---some are for marine use---you can seal a leaking pipe, for instance. Sure seems like the stuff would work for you.

Seems like it should work for some things . I think it's reasonable to assume that plastic steel is more durable for more intricate
molds because of it's metal content, but also that it may be overkill
(not to mention overpay ) for simpler shapes.

The person I talked to used it for shaping very large copper dishes that he builds decorative fountains on; some are about 18" dia. by about 6" deep in around 18g. or 16g. copper. He said he called the mfgr. and ordered "a couple of gallons for about $40 a gallon".A similar amount of Devcon would cost ...???  many hundreds of dollars.
Even if it wears out, it's way cheaper to remake a mold with PC-whatever, unless it's one that's ridiculously hard to setup.
